Day Of Dance 2010- Photo Gallery

Although the weather was the worst we have seen for many years we still managed to turn out 3 teams to celebrate this yearly inportant event, after dancing at the shops we retreated to the parish room and danced all sets before standing the children down due to the inclimate weather. We then split into 2 teams, danced the village as normal and finished at Beckhole all wet and cold.

The weekend was a great success having a team both Saturday and Sunday with the juniors dancing on the Sunday also, the weather was not very favourable on the Saturday with out breaks of thundershowers but the day went as well as could be expected.

Moor & Coast 2009- Photo Gallery

The weekend was sad but an enjoyable one, sad that it was the last Moor & Coast Festival but enjoyable as we had the youngsters dancing out for the first time this year and they did us very proud.

Another fine day, great turn out all the same. There were 3 teams dancing and an immense turnout of mucisians. The Day started with the parade from the reading room to the shops and all 3 teams toured the village as one group this year which made a nice change.

Just ironing out the cobwebs on the Sunday before the trip to The Royal Albert Hall, London as guests of the Waterson Family at The Mighty River Of Song, all went well and a great time was had by all, the weather held out well for the team and the groupies, a real added bonus seen as most of us were in tents.

Loftus Working Mens Club August 2005 - Photo Gallery

We were asked to dance at a birthday party held for an elderly gentleman (no ages given here it’s a secret) that used to dance for Loftus Primrose in his prime. He could have been one of the members that Ventress trained on his move to Loftus from Goathland (see history).

The most memorable overseas trip to partake in the Fasanc Festival of the Podsable Komna Team.

Day Of Dance January 2005 - Photo Gallery

This year’s day of dance was quite special as we resurrected “No Man’s Jig” in preparation for our trip to the Czech Republic. The day stayed fine but a bit of Goathland freshness crept in later in the afternoon ending the night at the Inn on the Moor with the annual “do”.

International Sword Spec May 2004 - Photo Gallery

This year’s sword spec started with a party, the American teams of Candy Rapper, Slightly Green & The Gay Blades arrived early & were put up in the village hall for the first night, we had a BBQ at the Inn On The Moor. “What more could a visiting team ask for, food, drink and shelter” (and I cooked 20 breakfasts at Les & Lillian’s the following morning) was what one of the team asked, well that is the Plough Stots hospitality. We had the junior team out on the Saturday; the highlight of the day was I got the younger American team & our juniors to dance on the deck of the Endeavour that was visiting Whitby the same weekend.
The weekend went smoothly, a credit to the organisers ending the weekend with a gala at the Whitby Spa.
The wind down was at Beckhole with several teams enjoying & joining in the fun, Note the size of the locks.

P.S. A great thanks to Brian Keld from Wype Doles who hosted our friends Podsable Komna on their tours & socialising with them afterwards.
